How Telegram Web Works in a Browser

Telegram Web lets you read chats in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge without installing Desktop. It is useful on shared office PCs and Chromebooks.

Official Web: Use web.telegram.org only. Look-alike domains are common in ads.

Check the Address Bar First

The hostname should be web.telegram.org. Telegram Web A lives at /a/, Web K at /k/. Bookmarks should point there, not at a shortened link from a message.

QR Login on Official Web

On the official page, Telegram can show a QR code. You scan it from Settings → Devices on the mobile app. If a page asks you to scan with a different messenger, or the address is not telegram.org, stop.

When Desktop Is Better

If you need file-heavy work, system notifications, or multi-account switching all day, Desktop is usually more stable than a browser tab. Web remains a good fallback when you cannot install software.

Sign Out on Shared Computers

Use the session list after you finish. Closing a tab is not the same as ending a Telegram session.
